CARDIO: What do you think of when you hear that word? Logging time on the treadmill or bike? Consider that it is more effective to do high intensity intervals (30-60 seconds) than simply hang out at a steady pace on a machine. HIIT training burns fat and preserves muscle tissue that you work hard for!
The great thing about HIIT training is that it is scale-able and EVERYONE can do it. It is simply a matter of pushing yourself to get your heart rate up for the interval time. Your interval time will increase as you get more fit.
Today’s cardio for me was 1-minute intervals of moves like bench step ups with weights, burpees, side lunges with weights and planks with knee taps. Was I a sweaty mess at the end? Yep. Was it more fun than a machine? You bet.
